This Austrian tenor, Mehrzad Montazeri born in Teheran, studied at the Schubert Conservatory, at the University (both in Vienna) and the Conservatory of the City of Vienna (Opera Studio Kammersänger Waldemar Kment). Mehrzad Montazeri was prize-winner at the Vienna Opera Competition in 1988, the Dostal Competition (1989) and in 1998 he won a scholarship to the Bayreuth Festival.
He was under ‘permanent’ contract at the theatres in Ulm, Freiburg, at the State Theatre in Hessen in Wiesbaden, and the theatre in Krefeld/Mönchengladbach. He later worked as a free lance singer before accepting a ‘permanent’ contract at the Volksoper in Vienna. Mehrzad has sung as guest at the State Operas in Stuttgart and Hamburg, at the theatres in Kaiserslautern, Augsburg, Kiel, Aachen, Baden, Bern and Luzern as well as at the theatre Erfurt, the Aalto theatre in Essen, the ‘Bühnen der Stadt Köln’, the ‘Deutsche Oper am Reihn’, at the Opera National de Paris (Bastille), the Teatro Communale di Firenze, as well as at the summer festivals in Eutin and Mörbisch. Mehrzad Montazeri in concert was to date in Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, Germany and the USA. In extensive repertoire are numerous roles from opera and operetta.
