András Deák studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Liszt Academy of Music. He was Principal Conductor of the Danube Symphony from 1991-2021, and has led the Wiener Mozart Orchester, Vienna Strauss Philharmonic, Calgary Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera, Chicago Civic Opera, and Budapest Strauss orchestras. As guest conductor he has toured Europe, Russia, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Asia, and North America. In 2004, he was awarded Hungary’s decoration of Knight’s Cross for his contribution to musical artistry.
