Alexander Steinitz received his training in orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at Yale University. Master classes with Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel and Jorma Panula rounded off his education, before embarking on an international career. Maestro Steinitz has conducted concerts in Europe, America and Asia with more than 50 orchestras, including the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Vienna Chamber Soloists, whom he conducted on their tour to Japan. In opera, he has conducted at the Vienna Volksoper as well as many state theatres in Germany, and has held several conducting positions at houses in German-speaking Europe. Awards include the Rheinische Post Theatre Oscar for his production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni that was later recorded for the German television network ARD. His production of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice was nominated for the German National Theatre Prize.
