| NATIONAL BALLET OF HUNGARY, BALLET (HUNGARY) |
 | In 2009, the National Ballet of Hungary celebrated its 125th anniversary in the famous Hungarian State Opera House. In the 1950s the Soviet Union's presence in Hungary brought the influence of the Russian school to already 150 year old Hungarian ballet tradition. The unique mixture of traditional Hungarian ballet and Russian training as well as Russian ballet has allowed the National Ballet of Hungary to reach its esteemed international position. The company has grown to 130 members and dances a 10 month season with over 50 ballets in its repertoire. The company has recently moved to build an equal platform on which it can present both the traditional ballets of Hungary alongside western favorites such as Giselle and Swan Lake. The beautifully romantic contemporary and classical ballet performances have resulted in an increasing demand for the National Ballet of Hungary to perform more frequently in Hungary as well as at international tours and festivals and of course, Salute to Vienna. |

| VIENNA CITY BALLET, BALLET |
 | The Vienna City Ballet's philosophy for crafting productions is unique. Rather than working consistently with one troupe of artists, Vienna City Ballet brings the best dancers and collaborating artists from around the world together on a project by project basis. Inspired by the spirit of Viennese dance, these artists bring their own unique backgrounds together to create dances made special by the very fact that they will never be performed again by the same artists together in the same manner. It is this unique concept of invoking Viennese spirit throughout the world that has made the Vienna City Ballet one of the premiere troupes working with Salute to Vienna. Both are interested in spreading the culture of Vienna. Working together, Salute to Vienna and the Vienna City Ballet have mixed artists from the Old and New worlds to honour the Viennese Neujahrskonzert tradition. The combined enthusiasm results in a splendid display for North American audiences to experience Viennese style New Year's revelry! |
