MICHAEL HEIM, TENOR (VIENNA)

Austrian born, Michael Heim, for several years, worked as a journalist and editor for the West Austrian publishing company, Voralberger Medienhaus, while pursuing his musical studies. In 1998, he made his first stage appearance at the Theater St. Gallen in Switzerland. Since 1999, he has been a freelance lyric opera tenor in opera houses all over Europe. Some venue highlights include performances at the Opernhaus Zürich, Konzerthaus Berlin, Musik Theater Schönbrunn, Salzburger Festpiele and Lehar Festival Bas Ischl. The 2008, Mr. Heim also had the privilege to go to Japan on a musical tour.

His repertoire includes Mozart's "Marriage of Figaro", Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", Gounod's "St.Cecilia Mass", Mendelssohn's "Elijah, Bach's cantatas and many more. Many of his respectable musical colleagues have been Kurt Masur, Peter Schreier, Helen Donath, Vladimir Jurowski, Robert Meyer, Kirill Petrenko amongst many others. Over 40 operetta roles have been performed.

Other highlights include a television production "Advent Celebration Music from Desden" (Dresden's Frauenkirche with Angelika Kirchschalger and conductor Vladimir Jurowski, "New Wine and Old Songs (BR Munich) and a Christmas Show "Songs for Hard" (MDR Leipzig). With the label CPO, Michael Heim made recordings from „Carneval in Rome" (Johann Strauß) and „Die drei Wünsche" (C.M. Zierer).
